Yann Clough is a Professor and Principal Investigator at the Centre for Environmental and Climate Science (CEC), Lund University, Sweden. He holds additional roles as Assistant Director and Deputy Director within the CEC and contributes to the BECC (Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate) initiative. His research focuses on understanding how species communities provide ecosystem services such as pest control, pollination, and conservation, while exploring the impacts of land-use changes on these services. He is affiliated with the LU Profile Area: Nature-based future solutions.
Key research interests include landscape ecology, ecological modeling, agroecology, and biodiversity conservation. Clough has contributed to major projects like BIOSPACE (satellite monitoring for biodiversity), SAFEGUARD (European pollinator protection), and UPSCALE (agricultural intensification in East Africa). He has published widely on topics such as pollinator dynamics, land-use effects on plant communities, and bioenergy policy.
- Awards:
- VEGA Fellow in Leadership and Communication (2017)
- Horst-Wiehe Award (2011)
- Member of Lamm Foundation Grant Evaluation Committee
Clough has advised and collaborated on PhD projects, including studies on plant-insect interactions and landscape-scale ecological processes. His work bridges ecology, economics, and policy, addressing global challenges like climate change and sustainable agriculture.
