Yanhua Sunny Yang is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Connecticut School of Business. Her research focuses on empirical financial accounting, particularly the impact of credit ratings, equity analyst forecasts, and earnings quality on capital markets. She holds a PhD in Accounting from the University of Colorado Boulder (2006) and prior degrees from Tsinghua University in China. Her work has been published in top journals including the Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Financial Market, and Accounting and Finance. She has held academic positions at the University of Connecticut since 2012 and the University of Texas at Austin from 2006-2012. Her research explores topics such as IPO pricing, regulatory compliance effects on corporate finance decisions, and the behavioral dynamics of financial analysts.
Her research interests include analyzing how credit ratings influence corporate behavior, the role of financial analysts in market efficiency, and the interplay between product market competition and earnings management practices. Recent work examines dividend policy linkages with labor skills and the information content of credit rating changes for equity investors.
