Yang Wang is a Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), co-directing the Social Computing Systems (SALT) Lab. He holds courtesy appointments in Computer Science and is affiliated with the Institute of Software Research (ISR) at UC Irvine. His work bridges privacy, security, and social computing, with a focus on human behavior and policy implications.

His research spans privacy in social networks, AI safety, and secure device pairing. Projects include Inclusive.AI (OpenAI), Ad Privacy in the Global South (Meta), and grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Department of Health and Human Services. He has collaborated with Google, Alcatel-Lucent, and Conviva.
Recent publications address CHI2024 crypto wallet usability, USENIX Security2024 papers, and the 2025 SP2025 conference on visual privacy.
