Dr. Yanfeng Qu is a faculty member at the Faculty of Health at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, where he has taught and coordinated the Mandarin Chinese Program since 1996. He holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Beijing Foreign Studies University and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of British Columbia.

Dr. Qu’s research focuses on Chinese syntax and language pedagogy, with recent interdisciplinary work integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) into Mandarin education. He designed and teaches ACUP 1110 (Mandarin Foundation for TCM/Acupuncture), a specialized course reflecting his passion for TCM.
His academic contributions include organizing TCM study programs for Canadian Chinese teaching professionals at the Shanghai University of TCM and receiving accolades such as the Annual Dean of Arts Teaching Award and full scholarships from HANBAN. Dr. Qu’s students have excelled in the BC 'Chinese Bridge' Mandarin Speech and Singing Contests, with many pursuing careers in government, private sectors, or further studies in Chinese.
