Yan Zhang serves as an Associate Professor and Scholarship Coordinator in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at New Mexico State University (NMSU), part of the College of Business. His expertise spans accounting information systems, tax policy, and corporate finance. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from Texas Tech University (2014), an M.S.A. in Accounting Information Systems and an M.B.A. in Finance from The University of Akron (2009), and a B.S.E. in Electronic Information Engineering from Ocean University of China (2004).
Dr. Zhang's research focuses on corporate governance, tax policy impacts, and executive compensation dynamics. Notable studies include examining board connectivity's role in R&D investments, retroactive tax policy effects, and self-dealing behaviors in M&A activities linked to CEO pay benchmarking. His work has been published in journals like Journal of Financial Research and Tax Notes.
