Yakub Sebastian is a Lecturer in Information Technology at Charles Darwin University's Faculty of Science and Technology. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Monash University and is an Adjunct Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (2020–2022). His research focuses on data science, information retrieval, text mining, network theory, and scientometrics, with a specialization in Literature-Based Discovery for hypothesis generation. Dr. Sebastian has contributed to over 36 peer-reviewed publications and led two research projects: one on biosecurity analytics in Northern Australia and another on predictive health monitoring in mining sites.
He serves as a Guest Associate Editor for Frontiers in Research Metrics and Analytics and actively reviews for journals like Bioinformatics and Journal of Information Science, as well as conferences such as the International Conference on Sustainable Engineering. His work aligns with UN SDGs, particularly in advancing sustainable development through AI-driven solutions in education, healthcare, and environmental science.
Key achievements include a Best Paper Award (2021) and editorial contributions to emerging AI and data science domains. His research bridges technical innovation with real-world applications, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration across computer science, healthcare, and environmental studies.
