Yair Shenfeld is an Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics at Brown University, affiliated with the Data Science Institute. He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from MIT and a PhD in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University. Prior to Brown, he served as a C.L.E. Moore Instructor and NSF Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT's Mathematics Department.
His research focuses on high-dimensional probability, optimal transport, stochastic analysis, and convex geometry, with applications to mathematical physics and data science. He explores topics such as renormalization group methods and generative modeling techniques like normalizing flows and diffusion models. In 2025, he will teach a graduate course on modeling high-dimensional probability distributions, emphasizing modern applications.
