Yael Friedman is a temporary Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oslo's Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas. She serves as coordinator of the Center for Philosophy and the Sciences (CPS). Her research focuses on the history and philosophy of science, particularly the philosophy of medicine, exploring how scientific advancements impact healthcare practices and societal implications. She employs an analytical philosophy framework informed by sociology, phenomenology, and STS.
Her academic background spans the history of ideas, fine arts, and education. Key research themes include medical holism, epistemic injustice in healthcare, and the intersection of knowledge production with visual art. Her 2024 article on medical conceptual frameworks exemplifies her work in redefining core medical concepts.
