Yacinta Kurniasih is an academic in the Indonesian Studies department at Monash University, where she has been teaching since 1997. Her work spans language education, cultural linguistics, and sociolinguistics, with a current focus on Javanese language pedagogy at schools and youth in Yogyakarta.

- B.A. (Hons) in English Literature, Education, and Language Teaching Methodology from the University of Yogyakarta
- M.Ed. in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, and LOTE from the University of Tasmania
Her research explores intersections of language, culture, and identity, including studies on learner attitudes toward target language culture, gender and language preferences in Indonesia, and Javanese grammatical structures. She also contributes to public health discourse through research on drug services in Yogyakarta.
Recent outputs include a 2023 non-textual project on immigrant narratives in Australia and a 2012 journal article on drug services. Earlier works (2006, 2000) focus on sociolinguistics and Javanese linguistic documentation. These publications reflect her expertise in language education, cultural integration, and interdisciplinary approaches to SDGs.
Yacinta actively engages with educational institutions and communities, serving as an In-Country Program Coordinator, LOTE Examiner, and language/culture consultant for Indonesian textbook publishers. She has presented at VILTA conferences, 'Why Learning Indonesian Forum,' and DEECD workshops, and previously contributed to SBS Radio and AIA newsletters.
