Yabing Chen

Yabing Chen, PhD, MBA, is the Jay M McDonald Endowed Chair and Professor & Vice Chair for Faculty Development and Education in the Department of Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She is also a Senior Research Career Scientist at the Birmingham VA Medical Center. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms of vascular smooth muscle cells, vascular calcification, arterial stiffness, diabetic vasculopathy, and the link between vascular health and aging-related cognitive impairments. She has led her lab since 2004, emphasizing mentorship and interdisciplinary collaboration. In leadership, she advocates for faculty development and supports underrepresented groups in academia.
