Xuefei Li is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Helsinki, holding appointments at the Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR) and the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry. She leads the Micrometeorology and Biogeochemical Cycles research group and supervises the Doctoral Programme in Atmospheric Sciences. Her work focuses on understanding biogeochemical cycles, climate change impacts, and energy exchange processes in terrestrial ecosystems.
Research interests include environmental sciences, physical sciences, ecology, and geosciences with a particular emphasis on soil respiration dynamics, methane flux modeling, boreal lake energy exchanges, and evolutionary ecology of plant-mycorrhizal interactions. She has contributed to projects like the EU-funded GreenFeedBack initiative and led the MIso project investigating methane turnover in boreal peatlands.
Dr. Li actively participates in international collaborations, presenting at conferences such as EGU General Assembly 2024 and organizing seminars at institutions like Beijing Forestry University. Her research integrates field observations with computational modeling to address pressing environmental challenges.
