Xueen Jia is a Staff Scientist at the Department of Physics, Umeå universitet, Sweden, affiliated with the Nano for Energy research group. Her work focuses on nanomaterials development for biomedical applications and sustainable energy systems. She obtained her PhD in biosensor technology from Hunan Normal University (China) in 2009, followed by postdoctoral research in Sweden under Prof. Ludmilla Morozova-Roche (medical biochemistry) and Prof. Thomas Wågberg (physics), specializing in carbon-based nanomaterials and electrochemical biosensors.
Her research interests include nanobiotechnology, nanocatalysts for fuel cells, carbon nanostructures (carbon nanotubes, graphene), and the application of microfluidic devices for neurodegenerative disease diagnostics. Specific projects involve electrochemistry-based Alzheimer/Parkinson disease biosensors, SERS-based detection platforms, and solar water splitting catalysts. She has contributed to advancements in material synthesis techniques like galvanic replacement methods and thermal imprinting for polymer nanostructures.
Publications span topics like bacterial spore detection via SERS, palladium nanocrystal electrocatalysts, and S100A9 protein biomarker studies for Alzheimer's disease. Her work bridges fundamental material science with applied technologies in energy and healthcare sectors.
