Professor Xudong Zhao is a globally recognized energy researcher specializing in sustainable building services, renewable energy, and energy efficiency technologies. He holds the position of Professor of Engineering and Director of Research at the University of Hull, within the Faculty of Science and Engineering's Mechanical Engineering department. With over 30 years of experience, he has led or contributed to 58 research projects totaling £18.5 million in funding and supervised 30 PhD students and 25 postdoctoral fellows. His work focuses on solar PV/thermal systems, heat pumps, and low-carbon technologies, with notable awards including the UK Rushlight Innovation Award and the 2018 University of Hull Research Excellence Award.
Education: BEng, MSc, PhD (University of Nottingham). Current roles include membership on the UK EPSRC Engineering Prioritisation Panel and editorial boards for journals like Energy and Renewable Energy.
