Xiting Yan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine (Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine) and an Assistant Professor in Biostatistics at Yale School of Medicine. She holds appointments in the Center for Precision Pulmonary Medicine (P2MED) and the Biostatistics Center. Her research focuses on developing computational and statistical methods to analyze large-scale omics data for understanding pulmonary disease heterogeneity and precision medicine applications. Dr. Yan's work integrates single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and drug perturbation data to uncover disease mechanisms and design personalized treatments.
Education: PhD in Applied Statistics (Peking University, 2006), PhD in Computational Biology & Bioinformatics (USC, 2009), Postdoc at Yale School of Medicine (2010).
Research interests include computational methods for omics data, disease heterogeneity assessment, and translational applications in asthma, IPF, sarcoidosis, and pediatric lung diseases. Key contributions include methods like G2S3 (imputation for scRNA-seq), iDESC (differential expression analysis), and SDePER (spatial transcriptomic deconvolution). Her lab collaborates with clinicians to translate computational insights into clinical discoveries.
Awards include the 2014 YCCI Scholar Award. She mentors postdoctoral researchers in computational biology and biostatistics. Active in peer review for journals like BMC Bioinformatics and Genome Biology.
Labs/Teams: Kaminski Lab, Center for Precision Pulmonary Medicine (P2MED), and the Yale Biomedical Data Science Program.
