Dr. Xinyue Chen is a Research Fellow at the University of Sheffield’s School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, affiliated with the Materials and Biological Physics Research Cluster. Her research focuses on the mechanical properties of biological materials and their roles in cancer progression, bone metabolism, and advanced biomaterials development. She employs cutting-edge techniques like atomic force microscopy (AFM) to study cellular and tissue mechanics, particularly in cancer metastasis and bone microenvironments.
Her work integrates biophysics, materials science, and oncology to explore topics such as nanomaterials for biomedical applications, mechanobiology of tumor microenvironments, and the effects of physical parameters (e.g., calcium ions, pH) on biomaterial behaviors. Recent studies emphasize the mechanical heterogeneity of bone tissues and the interplay between osteoblasts and cancer cells in metastatic processes.
Dr. Chen’s research bridges fundamental science and translational applications, contributing to innovations in cancer therapy and biomaterial design. She collaborates across disciplines to address complex biological and mechanical challenges in health and disease.
