Dr. Xing Li is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics at Aberystwyth University. He holds a BSc and MSc from the University of Science and Technology of China, and a PhD from Hefei. His research focuses on coronal heating, solar wind acceleration, and space plasma physics. He has contributed significantly to understanding ion dynamics in the solar wind and developed models like the 16-moment solar wind model. His work explores plasma instabilities, ion cyclotron resonance, and multi-fluid MHD modeling.
- Affiliation: Aberystwyth University, Department of Physics
- Appointed as Lecturer in March 2001
- Postdoctoral research at Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics
Research Interests: Coronal heating mechanisms, solar wind dynamics, plasma waves and instabilities, and solar wind turbulence at small scales. Current projects include studying space plasma turbulence and ion kinetic processes.
Recent articles highlight studies on solar wind turbulence, magnetic reconnection, and Alfvén waves. His work bridges observational data with theoretical models, advancing understanding of solar phenomena.
Grants and Projects: Co-Investigator in the 'Solar System Physics at Aberystwyth University' project (2019–2022), PI of 'Arc-polarised Alfvén Wave in Solar Wind' (2010).
