Xiaoming Song is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Drexel University's College of Arts and Sciences. She maintains her office in Korman Center 273 and can be reached at song@math.drexel.edu or xs73@drexel.edu.
- PhD in Mathematics from University of Kansas (2011)
Dr. Song specializes in stochastic analysis and probability theory, with particular expertise in stochastic differential equations and fractional processes. Her research bridges theoretical mathematics with applications in mathematical finance and queueing systems. She has contributed significantly to understanding heavy-tailed phenomena and fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes in multidimensional workload contexts. Her methodological approach combines rigorous mathematical analysis with practical applications in stochastic modeling.
Her recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on stochastic processes with heavy tails and fractional dynamics, showing expertise in both theoretical development and practical applications of these mathematical frameworks.
Dr. Song has been actively involved in academic service, including serving as a local organizer and speaker for the 2016 Gene Golub SIAM Summer School on stochastic differential equations and wave propagation at Drexel University, where she presented tutorials and research talks.
She joined Drexel University in December 2014 after completing postdoctoral research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2011-2013) and serving as a senior researcher at Ritsumeikan University in Japan (2013-2014).
