معرفی
Xiaomin Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at the Brain Research Institute of the University of Zurich. Her research focuses on uncovering the cellular and circuitry mechanisms of episodic memory consolidation in the hippocampus, with implications for early-onset Alzheimer's disease. She is supported by the SNSF Prima Fellowship and Synapsis Foundation Career Development Award.
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Biomedicine (China)
- Master’s in Neuroscience (China)
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience under Prof. Andreas Draguhn at the University of Heidelberg
- Postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria
Her research employs advanced in vivo electrophysiological recordings and optical tools to investigate single-neuron dynamics, neuronal population coding, and neuromodulation during spatial memory consolidation. Techniques include in vivo whole-cell patch-clamp recording in head-fixed behaving animals.
Scientific Awards:
- SNSF Prima Fellowship
- Synapsis Foundation Career Development Award
Xiaomin advises a team of researchers and students, including PhD candidates Raphael Angerbauer, Tae Ho Lim, Jules Auguste Lubetzki, and Master student Venujan Pusparajah. The lab is known as the Laboratory of Memory Consolidation, with contact support from Sandra Weiss at the University of Zurich.
