Xiaomei He

Xiaomei He serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at East Carolina University, where she leads the He Lab focused on proteomics and molecular mechanisms of gene regulation.

Dr. He's research integrates mass spectrometry-based proteomics with bioinformatics to investigate protein-nucleic acid interactions, particularly focusing on m6A RNA modification crosstalk with histone modifications in chromatin and R-loop binding proteins. Her lab employs multi-omics approaches to uncover epigenetic mechanisms in cancer and genome instability, developing novel techniques for identifying protein interactions with G-quadruplexes, R-loops, and damaged DNA. This work bridges analytical chemistry, molecular biology, and cancer research through innovative methodological development.

The He Lab provides comprehensive experimental platforms for proteomics sample preparation, next-generation sequencing data analysis, and biochemical validation of protein-nucleic acid interactions. Dr. He actively seeks collaboration opportunities and trains students in cutting-edge omics technologies with translational applications in cancer therapeutics.
