Xiaofei Song is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at Saint Mary’s University’s Sobey School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from Baruch College (CUNY) and an MBA from Saint Mary’s University. Previously, he taught at Fudan University and Baruch College, and served as a visiting professor at Pace University (2004-2005). His teaching focuses on financial accounting across all academic levels.
His research spans financial reporting, earnings management, corporate governance, and corporate social responsibility. Notable areas include professor-directors’ influence on corporate behavior, fair value accounting in volatile markets, and technology integration in accounting education. He has published in top-tier journals such as Accounting and Finance and International Review of Finance.
His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical implications, examining topics like executive pay gaps, environmental performance of Chinese firms, and earnings forecasts in extreme market conditions. His 2024 studies highlight the intersection of academic governance roles and corporate financial practices.
His educational background includes a B.Sc. from Fudan University and an M.Sc. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is a Fellow Certified Professional Accountant (FCPA).
