Xiaodong Chen

Professor Xiaodong Chen is a faculty member at Queen Mary University of London, affiliated with the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science. He holds a BSc and PhD, and is a Fellow of both the IEEE and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET). His research focuses on microwave engineering, antenna design, terahertz technology, medical applications of RF/EM fields, and space-based solar power systems.

His research interests include advanced antenna arrays, high-power magnetron design, wireless communication systems, and applications of electromagnetic fields in medical diagnostics and therapy. He leads the Centre for Electronics, contributing to innovations in terahertz imaging, plasma heating systems, and 5G/6G technologies. Professor Chen has authored over 200 publications, with recent work emphasizing medical RF treatments for Alzheimer’s and space-based energy transmission.

He teaches postgraduate courses on Mobile and WLAN Technologies, and oversees grants related to antenna systems and medical RF applications. His awards include IEEE and IET fellowships, recognizing contributions to microwave engineering and applied electromagnetics.
