Xialu Liu

Xialu Liu serves as an Associate Professor in the Management Information Systems Department at the Fowler College of Business, San Diego State University. She joined SDSU in 2015 as an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2020. Dr. Liu teaches core and elective courses including introductory statistics, forecasting, and business analytics for undergraduate, MBA, and MSIS students.

Her academic credentials are:

Research focuses on advanced statistical methodologies with applications across domains. Her primary expertise includes business forecasting, time series analysis, high-dimensional data techniques, and factor models for complex datasets. She bridges theoretical statistics with practical implementations in business analytics, engineering systems, and scientific research, emphasizing temporal dependence in big data contexts. Her work has been published in premier journals including the Journal of Econometrics, Statistica Sinica, and the Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference.
