Prof. Xenia Kobeleva is a Professor in the Department of Computational Neurology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum's Faculty of Computer Science. She leads research at the Institut für Neuroinformatik (INI), focusing on integrating computational methods with clinical neuroscience to understand brain network dynamics and neurodegenerative disorders. Her work bridges experimental psychology, neurophysiology, machine learning, and robotics to explore cognition-environment interactions.
Key research areas include Alzheimer’s disease mechanisms, brain network modeling, cognitive reserve theories, and translational neuroimaging. Notable recent work examines white matter hyperintensities' network effects and amyloid-beta/tau interactions. She co-developed frameworks for next-generation phenotyping in rare genetic disorders and pioneered computational tools for quantitative MRI analysis.
Kobeleva's interdisciplinary approach is reflected in her teaching, including the Interdisciplinary Workshop on Computational Neurology. The INI’s facilities at Building NB, Room MB 6/189 support her research, which spans from basic neuroscience principles to applied clinical diagnostics. Collaborations with global institutions like Movement Disorders and NeuroImage: Clinical journals highlight her field leadership.
