Xavier Querol Carceller

Xavier Querol Carceller is a Research Professor leading the EGAR group at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA-CSIC) in Barcelona. His primary research focuses on atmospheric pollution, waste valorisation, and applied geochemistry. He has supervised 26 PhD theses and published over 500 articles in SCI journals.

He actively contributes to international committees, including the LRTAP-UNECE, WHO, and EC working groups, advising on air quality and climate policies. His work has been recognized with the 2013 ‘Rey Jaime I’ Environmental Protection Award and inclusion in the ISI Highly Cited Scientists list.

Xavier’s research integrates environmental science with policy, emphasizing practical solutions for pollution control and sustainable resource management. He maintains a global academic presence through committee involvement and high-impact publications.
