Xavier Marechaux is an Associate Professor and Social Studies Coordinator at SUNY Old Westbury, within the School of Education's Adolescence Education History & Philosophy department. He holds a PhD in French History from Université Paris I. His research focuses on the French Revolution, Napoleon's era, and the Catholic Church's history during the 18th-19th centuries, particularly the dechristianization campaigns and their long-term effects.
Key publications include *Noces révolutionnaires* (2017) and *Pie VII, le pape qui défia Napoléon* (2024), exploring married priests under the Revolution and the papacy's struggles with Napoleon. His work appears in journals like *Napoleonica* and *The Cambridge History of Atheism*.
