Xavier Fornt

Xavier Fornt is a Lecturer at the School of International Business (ESCI-UPF) of Pompeu Fabra University, teaching International Banking, Credit Assessment and Finance in the Master in International Management programme. With over 50 years of professional experience since 1972, he has served as director of international areas at major financial institutions and as an IFC-World Bank consultant, while holding influential roles at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Research Expertise: His work centers on International Trade and International Banking with specialized focus on documentary credits, currency risk management, and trade finance systems. He has contributed significantly through his authoritative book Cómo evitar problemas con créditos documentarios [How to Avoid Problems with Documentary Credits] and as Spanish correspondent for China Forex and LC Monitor publications, bridging European and Asian financial practices.

Professional Leadership: Mr. Fornt founded the Group of Experts on the Spanish Committee at the ICC, serves on the ICC Banking Committee and Dispute Resolution Group, represents Spain at the Association of German Independent Public Savings Banks, and contributes to Credimpex France. His career demonstrates deep integration of academic instruction with real-world financial institution leadership.

Teaching Impact: His Master's-level course examines multinational financial decision-making through case studies, covering international payment systems, currency derivatives for hedging, and transfer pricing strategies, with instruction delivered in Spanish across 2 ECTS credits.
