Xavier Abel-Snape

Dr. Xavier Abel-Snape is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Catalan Institute of Chemical Research (ICIQ), affiliated with the research group of Prof. Ruben Martín. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto (2019), where he worked on palladium and nickel catalysis methodologies, asymmetric dual-catalysis, and the synthesis of complex molecular scaffolds. His current research focuses on enantioenriched indene synthesis using chiral oxabicyclic derivatives in palladium catalysis, supported by ERC NOVOFLAT funding.

His academic journey includes internships at the University of Montreal (2017, photocatalysis/flow chemistry), Fraunhofer IMM (2018, nanoparticle synthesis), and a part-time role in the Collins Group (2019, macrocyclization reactions). He collaborates with a multidisciplinary team at ICIQ, including group leader Dr. David Sádaba and fellow postdocs such as Dr. Daniel Kócsi and Dr. Zhong Liu.

Research interests span sustainable catalytic methodologies, continuous flow systems, and the application of chiral scaffolds in drug discovery. His work bridges fundamental organic chemistry with practical synthetic strategies for pharmaceutical and materials science.
