Wren Henderson

Wren Henderson is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at Washington University. They co-direct the Advanced Writing program and serve on the English Department’s Culture and Climate Committee and the University’s General Literacy Assessment Committee. Their research focuses on 20th/21st-century literature, postmodern country house novels, postcolonial theory, queer/trans* studies, and the intersections of technology and subjectivity.

Teaching interests include literary theory, argumentation, exposition, and researched writing. Notable courses taught include 'Literature of Addiction: From Opium to Adderall' and 'The Long Essay: Researched Writing.'

Publications include essays on the English Heritage Industry and country-house novels like Wide Sargasso Sea and Atonement. They actively engage in community initiatives, co-facilitating a support group for genderqueer/non-binary individuals and a trans* book/media discussion club in St. Louis.

Outside academia, Wren is an enthusiast of Dungeons & Dragons, professional wrestling, and historic homes, residing in a 150-year-old house with two humans and three cats.
