معرفی
Wouter Halfwerk is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in the Department of Ecology & Evolution. His research focuses on sensory ecology, sexual communication, and the impacts of urbanization, light/noise pollution, and predator-prey dynamics on animal behavior and evolution. He has contributed to understanding how environmental pressures shape species' adaptations, particularly in amphibians and insects.
Research Interests: His work spans Animal Behavior, Evolutionary Biology, and Environmental Science, emphasizing topics like predator evasion strategies, sexual signaling mechanisms, and the genomic footprints of human activity on wildlife populations.
Awards: Recipient of the Heineken Young Scientist Award (2016) in Environmental Science. His datasets include studies on urban frog behavior, acoustic camouflage in moths, and the effects of anthropogenic noise on wildlife.
Teaching & Collaboration: Teaches courses on Adaptation to Human Environments and Current Trends in Ecology & Evolution. Collaborates internationally on projects exploring multisensory communication networks and urban speciation.
