Woojung Shin serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering at KAIST's College of Engineering, leading the Host-Microbiome Engineering (HoME) Lab.
Her research focuses on human-microbiome interactions through engineering approaches, specializing in organ-on-a-chip and synthetic biology techniques to develop microbiome-based diagnostics and therapeutics. The HoME Lab actively investigates host-microbiome crosstalk to create novel therapeutic interventions.
Dr. Shin holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Her laboratory is physically located at KAIST's CMS Building (Room 1109), 291 Daehak-ro, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, Republic of Korea (34141).
