Won K. Chung serves as a Lecturer at Dartmouth College through the Book Arts Workshop within Dartmouth Libraries, where he leads the term-long Letterpress Intensive workshops focused on fine typesetting and printing techniques. His instructional role emphasizes hands-on mastery of historical printing methods within an academic library context.
His scholarly focus centers on the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and typographic design, with deep expertise in letterpress printing processes, type composition, and book arts preservation. This specialization bridges historical techniques with contemporary design education, fostering tactile engagement with pre-digital printing technologies.
Prior to his Dartmouth appointment, Mr. Chung maintained an active teaching career across prominent art institutions including the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Art Institute of Boston, and University of the Arts, following his retirement from corporate design practice. He operates from Baker Library (Office: Baker 23) where the Book Arts Workshop maintains its studio facilities for student and community instruction.
