Won-Hee Lee serves as a Professor in the Department of Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Engineering at Sejong University since 2001, following research positions at the Center for Applied Energy (USA, 1996-1998) and Hanyang/Kookmin University (1999-2000).
His educational background includes:
- Ph.D. (1996) and M.S. (1990) from the University of Kentucky
- B.S. (1988) from Hongik University
Lee's research spans nanomaterials synthesis, powder metallurgy, biomaterials, and structural materials, with seminal work on mesoporous TiO2 photocatalytic films, Mg-alloy biodegradable implants, and cermet tool materials. His methodology integrates cellulose nanocrystal templating, hydrothermal synthesis, and advanced sintering techniques to address challenges in environmental remediation and biomedical engineering.
Recent publications (2022-2023) reveal a concentrated focus on TiO2-based photocatalysis for pollutant degradation, with consistent output in high-impact journals like Ceramics International and Cellulose. His work demonstrates methodological innovation through Nb-doping, transition metal modifications, and novel sintering approaches, establishing cross-cutting contributions to materials sustainability.
With an h-index of 25 and over 2,365 Scopus citations, Lee maintains significant scholarly influence. His collaborative network extends to researchers including Yoon, Gwon, and Vijayakumar across multiple institutions.
Lee leads active research in nanomaterial fabrication and processing, directing laboratory efforts in thin-film synthesis, sintering optimization, and biomaterial development. His program emphasizes practical applications of fundamental materials science, particularly in environmental and biomedical domains.
