Wolfgang Reisig

Wolfgang Reisig has been a leading figure in theoretical computer science for more than three decades. Since 1993 he has held the Chair of Theoretical Computer Science at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Earlier he served as Professor at TU München (1988–1993) and as “Beta Chair” at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (2006). He has repeatedly taken on leadership roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science (1996–1998) and Acting Director of the Department of Computer Science (1994–1996 and 2002–2004).

His research focuses on rigorous modelling and analysis of concurrent and distributed systems, with foundational work on Petri nets and formal verification techniques.

In recognition of his scientific achievements, Wolfgang Reisig was elected to the Academia Europaea in 2006.
