Winfield John Wells

Dr. Winfield John Wells is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, and Associate Director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Training Program. He specializes in congenital heart disease, pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, and thoracic transplantation, with research interests in cryopreserved allografts and complex tracheal reconstruction.

After completing his medical degree at USC and surgical training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, he joined Childrens Hospital Los Angeles in 1977. In 1992, he helped establish USC's full-time Academic Cardiothoracic Surgical service. His extensive publication record focuses on innovations in pediatric cardiac surgery, xenotransplantation, and surgical outcomes research.
