Winand Tremmel is a Researcher and Doctoral Candidate at Philipps-Universität Marburg, affiliated with the CRC 138 'Dynamics of Security' (Subproject B01 - Land Peace). Previously, he held roles as a research and teaching assistant at the Curt-Engelhorn Chair of American History (Heidelberg University) and earned a Master's in Global History (Heidelberg) and a Bachelor's in History/Ancient Near Eastern Studies (Tübingen). His research focuses on communities of violence, global historical dynamics, and medieval military structures. Current work explores Landesdefensionen and civilian mobilization post-Augsburg Religious Peace. He teaches courses on Venetian history and has presented on diplomatic relations in the premodern Mediterranean. His publications include a blog article on the Catalan Company's role in the eastern Mediterranean.

- Military and mercenary dynamics in medieval Mediterranean contexts
