William T. Gunning III

William T. Gunning III, Ph.D., is a Professor of Pathology at the University of Toledo College of Medicine. He serves as Director of the Electron Microscopy Facility and maintains extensive involvement with the Microscopy Society of America, where he held the presidency in 2008.

His research focuses on bleeding disorders (particularly delta granule storage pool deficiencies), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), and medical education technology through virtual patient development. Recent work explores autoimmune mechanisms in POTS and connections between platelet dysfunction and systemic pathologies.
