William Schmidt is Professor of Physics at Meredith College, teaching general physics, astronomy, and directing student research since 2001. His pedagogical research develops classroom techniques to enhance conceptual understanding, including creative writing assignments that help students build a 'physics window' for interpreting the world. He presents regularly at AAPT meetings and publishes in The Physics Teacher on engagement strategies for small classes.
Education: PhD in Physics/Geophysics (University of North Dakota, 2001), MS in Physics (University of North Dakota, 1994), BS in Physics and Astronomy (University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1991).
