Dr. William Robert Wood is a Professor at Trinity Western University (TWU), returning to faculty after serving as Provost from 2012 to 2022. He joined TWU in 1992 with a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Regina, contributing to building the Physics program and later transitioning into academic leadership. His roles included Undergraduate Academic Council participation, Tenure and Promotion Committee, and coordination of the Physics program. As Provost, he oversaw TWU’s academic strategy, policy development, and institutional resilience during the pandemic, leading transitions to remote learning. He established key initiatives like the Aboriginal Partnership Council and the Institute of Indigenous Issues and Perspectives, fostering interdisciplinary research through centers such as The Inklings Institute of Canada.
Dr. Wood’s expertise spans Theoretical Physics (General Relativity, Quantum Theory) and academic leadership. His publications focus on Weyl space dynamics, quantum interpretations, and geometric phase transitions. Notable awards include Who’s Who in Canada (2009) and promotion to Full Professor (2008). He played pivotal roles in launching TWU’s PhD in Nursing (2021) and MA in Special Education (2014). His academic administration legacy includes the Academic Advising Office, Learning Commons, and policy frameworks enhancing academic quality and equity.
Dr. Wood’s educational background includes a PhD (1992), MSc (1986), and BSc (1982) from the University of Saskatchewan and Regina. His teaching spans Physics, Mathematics, and Leadership courses, reflecting his dual commitment to STEM and institutional governance.
