William Parent

William Parent is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Santa Clara University's College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Brown University (1970). His research focuses on philosophy of law, ethical theory, medical ethics, and the concept of dignity. He has published over two dozen articles in journals such as Mind, American Philosophical Quarterly, and Philosophy and Public Affairs, and co-edited The Constitution of Rights (Cornell University Press, 1992). His ongoing work continues to explore themes of dignity within philosophical frameworks.
