William Meyer is an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator at Mercyhurst University, specializing in anthropology and coordinating the Interdisciplinary Minor in Gender Studies. His office is located in Zurn 66A.
Dr. Meyer is a four-field anthropologist and historical ecologist with a focus on transdisciplinary collaboration. His research explores how societies remember and forget historical relationships and knowledge, particularly in the contexts of ecological landscapes and systems of sex, gender, and sexuality. He emphasizes producing anthropological insights through public collaboration and sharing these findings beyond academic circles.
Teaching and mentoring are central to Dr. Meyer’s career, with over two decades of experience since 2001. He champions hands-on learning, the development of critical thinking, and supports diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within Mercyhurst University, higher education, and anthropology.
