William Kelly is a retired Lecturer in the Department of Communication at UCLA's College of Social Sciences. His research spans U.S.-Japan relations, Chinese and Islamic cultural history, nonviolence philosophy, terror management theory, and mindfulness applications. With 19 years in Japan, his work critically examines intercultural perceptions and conflict resolution.
His publications analyze Japanese media relations frameworks and metatheoretical approaches to cross-cultural communication. Educational background includes dual PhDs in Communication (University of New Mexico) and Philosophy (UC Berkeley), complemented by philosophy degrees from NYU.
