William J Emblom

Dr. William J. Emblom, Ph.D., P.E., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette since 2007. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering - Engineering Mechanics from Michigan Technological University (2006), an M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Cleveland State University (1997), and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Saint Louis University (1984).

Dr. Emblom’s research focuses on advanced manufacturing techniques and sustainable energy solutions. In Sustainable Energy, he investigates methane recovery from industrial and municipal sources for clean energy applications. Additional projects include developing lightweight mass transit systems tailored for medium-population centers.

His academic contributions span 15 publications (including peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings) on metal forming, automation, and energy systems. Dr. Emblom has secured over $1.5 million in grants for curriculum development, methane recovery, and manufacturing research, serving as PI or Co-PI. Awards include recognition from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and multiple certificates of appreciation from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for teaching and service.
