William H. Bridges, IV is a faculty member at the University of Rochester, specializing in modern Japanese literature, African American literature, and comparative media studies. His work examines storytelling's role in shaping racial identity, particularly through the lens of the "Black Pacific." He is a founding editor of the Journal of Social and Cultural Possibilities and has received major fellowships including the National Endowment for the Humanities Research Fellowship and Mellon New Directions Fellowship.
Bridges' research explores the intersection of fiction, racial discourse, and digital humanities, with emphasis on reparations and intergenerational justice.
