William Farrelly

Dr. William Farrelly serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Computing at Atlantic Technological University (ATU), specializing in computer system security, cryptography, digital forensics, and XR technologies. With dual expertise from industry practice and academic research, he delivers practical, industry-relevant education at ATU's Letterkenny campus.

His research focuses on emerging digital security applications, virtual reality integration in education, and XR technologies. He actively bridges theoretical concepts with real-world implementation through industry collaborations, emphasizing solutions with commercial viability across medtech, healthtech, and agritech sectors.

As a core member of the WiSAR Lab, he contributes to the Technology Gateway initiative co-funded by the Irish Government and European Union. This multidisciplinary team develops IoT solutions for commercial clients, with projects spanning manufacturing, marine technology, and security applications.
