William F. Sharpe is the STANCO 25 Professor of Finance, Emeritus, at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. He joined Stanford in 1970 and became Emeritus in 1999. His groundbreaking work includes the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) and the Sharpe Ratio, foundational to modern finance. Sharpe’s research spans investment analysis, capital markets, and retirement income strategies. He co-founded Financial Engines, a retirement planning firm.
