William Detmold

William Detmold is a Professor of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), affiliated with the Center for Theoretical Physics (CTP) and the Laboratory for Nuclear Science (LNS). He has been a faculty member since 2012, previously holding positions at the College of William and Mary and the University of Washington. His research focuses on strong interaction dynamics in theoretical particle and nuclear physics, leveraging supercomputers to solve quantum chromodynamics (QCD) equations and explore phenomena like hadron/nuclei emergence, neutron star interiors, and dark matter. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society (2016) and has received DOE Early Career (2013) and Outstanding Junior Investigator (2009) awards.
