William D. Hula is an Adjunct Faculty member affiliated with the Department of Communication Science and Disorders and works at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System within the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service and the Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC). He is a speech pathologist with extensive research experience in aphasia, language assessment, and patient-reported functioning.
His research focuses on:
- Measurement of language performance and patient-reported functioning in aphasia
- Application of latent trait measurement models to aphasia assessment
- Aphasia treatment and brain-behavior relationships in language disorders
Dr. Hula is a graduate of the VA RR&D Research Career Development Program and has secured active research funding from both VA RR&D and NIH/NIDCD. He co-founded the VAPHS Program for Intensive Aphasia Rehabilitation and Education, which has served over 140 Veterans from 33 states since 2009.
