William C. Jones is a Professor of Physics at Princeton University, affiliated with the Department of Physics. He earned a bachelor's degree in physics and a certificate in applied and computational mathematics from Princeton (1998) and a Ph.D. from Caltech. Prior to joining Princeton in 2008, he worked as a postdoctoral scholar at Caltech and as a scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
His research focuses on cosmology, particularly the cosmic microwave background (CMB) and dark matter studies through gravitational lensing. He has contributed to major experiments like WMAP, Boomerang, BICEP, Planck, and SPIDER. Jones has been awarded the 2018 Gruber Cosmology Prize for his work.
Key collaborations include NASA and the National Science Foundation. He advises graduate students including Steven Benton and Simon Tartakovsky. His lab develops instruments and analytical methods for cosmological observations, advancing understanding of the universe's origins and dark matter/dark energy.
