William C. Goggins, MD, is a Professor of Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he has been faculty since 2003. He serves as Surgical Director of the IU Health Kidney Transplant Program—performing over 250 transplants annually—and Co-director of the IU Health Transplant and Immunobiology Laboratory. His clinical practice specializes in adult/pediatric kidney transplantation, particularly for anatomically/immunologically complex cases.
His research focuses on:
- Transplant innovation: Desensitization therapies, paired donation systems, and normothermic organ preservation
- Immunobiology: Human-pig xenoreactive responses and crossmatch compatibility
- Surgical outcomes: Laparoscopic nephrectomy techniques and multi-organ transplantation protocols
Recent publications (2018-2024) emphasize clinical trials in immunosuppression, organ preservation technology, and expanding transplant accessibility for high-risk populations. Noteworthy awards include honors from the Indiana Donor Network and National Kidney Foundation of Indiana for community impact.
