William C. Chittick is a Distinguished Professor (part-time) in the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies at Stony Brook University. He holds a Ph.D. in Persian language and literature and has extensive experience in Islamic studies, Sufism, and comparative religion. Formerly, he taught at institutions including Sharif University of Technology (Iran), the Imperial Iranian Academy of Philosophy, and served as a visiting lecturer at the Kenan Rifai Center for Sufi Studies in Beijing (2012).
